TERRARTE
Ekthesis
Ekthesis is a mixed space of exhibition and action. Ekthesis is a multi-meaning word. It refers to both exhibition and exposition; a showroom or a fair; a report or a show. Our Ekthesis is a solo body performance art with mixed performative media such as four video performances, QR codes, installation as well as mixed materiality. The space will be formed with the maze philosophy. A labyrinth will be created, by video projections, QR codes, same dressed dummies. All the surfaces are covered by plastic covers, even if the performance takes place outdoors. The performance will take place at night time, or we will secure a dark venue. The only lights are those from the videos and the scenography of the performance. A creature is moving in the area. The way is moving seems to be connected at every time with the video performances. Four video performances as “exhibits” are projecting. In the 1st video gender, family abuse and suffocation are captured in a kinesiological paraphrase of the painting “The Lovers”, by Rene Magritte. The original music “Sirens Call-Urban Mix”, that covers the video is based on the sound of the ancient lyre, mixed with modern sounds. Miri is a humanoid construct, a digital advisor of existence. It provides scientific information on current affairs, issues, as well as advise and support for modern stress and impasses. Miri will share this information to the audience through QR code, talking to them about various issues. Another being talks incessantly into camera. Cockroaches are the point pf her reference in her sometimes-incoherent speech. Her words are a metaphorical “report”, an “essay” of how in the young people face the present and how they mock whatever is happening in their world. The consumption and the exploitation are imprinted on a discounted, self-dominant self, who sets his own excellences as the basis for his own self-consumption, creating a packaged body. The live solo performance uses strings, led lights and percoussions to isolate human alterations and create a searchable landscape. A visual exploration of utopia. An attempt to remind us of the need for nature and pure insects. All video performances play over and over in a loop, except the one with a silent obsessive human. She tries to bring back to life people, she tries to remind us the meaning of life. All the above places the human body on Ekthesis as a spectacle, as an object, seeking its subjectification, accumulating and transmitting ritual experiences.
