IFPA 2020
body politics / performance art in the public space
The choice of the theme of 2 IFPA in a way is a continuation of the first forum entitled: “back to the body” and at the same time a need to connect with the new reality. The event caused by covid-19 produced a rift in the social and political real while revealing the dynamics of bodies in living space, through their exclusion.
The body (the imaginary, the symbolic and the real) produces politics in the plural. It is the policies of the body that are articulated in the public space and its multiplicity. The representational logic of the body in the digital space, the cyberbody as a body policy of a subject of post-truth are no longer but reflections of the “broken mirror” of the living body in the present and everything that comes as a request for a profound change of life. The art of performance deals with the presence of the body and its politics, sometimes through its direct connection with politics and space, and sometimes with the poetry of a space where the body meets the politics through its poetic presence. The politics produced by mediation in which the dialectic of the digital medium as an “other body with space and the physicalities that erase it” highlights two “poles”: division (Bishop) and disposition *.
* The creation of this concept comes from the term “grammatical disposition” which indicates the relationship of the verb with the subject. Here we ascribe the relation of the subject to the energy either passive or active. We are interested in the relationship as such. The digital medium has always been such an energetic framework of artistic creation.
