3rd International Forum of Performance Art
September 8–11, 2021, Drama
With the theme “The gendered body in performance / the political through the performativity of gender,” the third edition of the International Forum of Performance Art took place on September 8–11, 2021, in Drama, drawing inspiration from Judith Butler’s concept and the implications of the contemporary era. The guest artists and academics developed their presentations around this theme, combining live performances, theoretical talks, and educational activities.
Performances were presented by: Apostolidis Kyriakos, Arapi Fani, Vasiliou Filippos, Galani Maro with students from the University of Patras, Zygouri Mary, Haris Kontosfyris with students from the University of Western Macedonia, Haris Messiniotis, Giannis Mitrou, Giorgos Symeonidis, Filippos Tsitsopoulos, Sebastian Tsifis, Maria Charela, and Yanina Orellana (Mexico).
The following participated in the Forum: Galani Maro, Gini Eleni, Venetia Koutsou, Vicky Konstantinidou, Yannis Mitrou, Sotiris Bachtsetzis, Penny Bouzka, Nikos Mykoniatis, Eleftheria Panousi, Kostis Stafylakis, and Meryl Murman (USA).
The student hosting program, a key pillar of IFPA, hosted 25 students from three universities (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Patras, University of Western Macedonia), who participated in workshops and activities open to the public. Workshops were conducted by: Maro Galani, Maro Theodosiou, Haris Kontosfyris, Giannis Mitrou, Murman Meryl, and Yanina Orellana.
For the first time, IFPA hosted a tribute/exhibition to a guest artist. The creator Giorgos Drivas presented the exhibition “Immaterial Matter,” with video projections of his works at various points in Agia Varvara Park.
At the same time, the Viewing Room hosted 31 performance and video art works from 16 countries, including Israel, Tenerife, Serbia, Bulgaria, China, Brazil, France, Canada, Argentina, Palestine, Puerto Rico, and others.
The visual identity of IFPA3, designed by graphic designer Konstantinos Pavlidis from Drama, was awarded as a finalist in the Greek Visual Communication Design Awards (EBGE) in the “Multiple Applications” category.
The 3rd International Forum of Performance Art was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.
