5th International Forum of Performance Art

September 22–24, 2023, Drama

With the participation of artists from Greece and abroad, academics and students from three universities in the country, the 5th International Forum of Performance Art returned to Drama on September 22–24, 2023. The event took place in Agia Varvara Park and at the Socrates Dimitriadis Theater.

This year’s theme, “The Posthumanisms and the Metaverses Condition,” provided the framework for the presentations and performances. The main guests were Jaroslaw Fret, director of the Grotowski Institute and founder of Teatr Zar, and internationally renowned performer Alwynne Pritchard.

The three-day forum was attended by: Alexandrou Vasilis, Arabatzis Georgios, Dr. Galanis Maro, Dr. Gini Eleni, Drivas Giorgos, Karapanagioti Chrysoula, Konstantinidou Vicky, Bachtsetzis Sotiris, Mitrou Giannis, Dr. Hatzidimitriou Penelope.

Live performances were presented by: Wachowicz Monika, Theodosiou Maro, Tsitsopoulos Filippos, Kypselidis Theodoros, Lambrianidis Giorgos, Monogios Ioannis, Charela Maria, Stamenitis Giannis, and Voulgaroudi Popi.

As part of the educational program, 20 students from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Patras, and the University of Western Macedonia were hosted. The students participated in four workshops and a masterclass organized by IRPA-almakalma, which were also open to the general public.

For the fourth year, alongside the live program, the Viewing Room, IFPA’s digital platform, hosted 26 video art and digital performance works by artists from eight countries, selected through an open call. The works were available via the website www.ifpa.gr.

The 5th International Forum of Performance Art was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.
